Summary

We are excited to welcome W.M. Brady & Co., long standing Old Master drawings dealer in New York, to present a group of 26 drawings, ranging from the 15th to the 20th century, at Nicholas Hall gallery for Master Drawings New York 2022. The exhibition features works on paper by well-known names – including Claude Lorrain (cat. 12) represented with a charming mythological scene of gods and cattle, two very different sheets by two Tiepolos (cat. 15-16), and a charming scene of children stomping grapes by seicento Bolognese master Guercino (cat. 11). Among the surprises is a small sheet by sixteenth-century Luca Cambiaso (cat. 7) famous for his ‘cubist’ heads and bodies, as well as the grainy charcoal still lifes by Bonvin (cat. 23, 24), which anticipate the drawings only two decades later by Seurat. A catalogue will be available online and in print.

Complementing the drawings are a selection of Old Master paintings from Nicholas Hall gallery, which includes one of the earliest depictions of Saint Jerome writing manuscripts in his study, dated from the 1380s.
