Internships
Nicholas Hall is pleased to offer a semester-long internship position at our New York gallery each Spring and Fall. Qorking across multiple facets of the business, the intern will chance to learn about provenance and archival research, art pricing and market trends, conservation and framing, art administration as well as the inner workings of the Old Masters trade.
As a small team, we strive to provide a well-rounded and tailored experience for the intern—providing guidance and support for them to develop Old Master-related interests, build their industry knowledge, and expand their professional network; the intern’s communication and project / time management skills will also be honed. We see it as an apprenticeship, where the intern learns to be a responsible professional and a valuable member of our team.
The internship is best suited for graduate students who have committed to a professional career in academia, the art market, or museum world; occasionally undergraduates in their senior year are also considered. Preference is given to candidates with knowledge and experience working with European Old Master paintings, drawings or sculpture. The candidates who have thrived in the past tend to be motivated, communicative, and genuinely interested in the Old Masters business. Our past interns have found employment as specialists at Christie’s and Sotheby’s, museum curatorial staff, winners of competitive scholarships (e.g. Rhodes Scholarship), as well as at Nicholas Hall.
